Tell Your Senators: Vote NO on Crimmigration Bills!

The U.S. Senate may consider three harmful bills which would majorly expand the deportation and mass incarceration of immigrants. The U.S. House of Representatives has already passed all of these bills. Now is the time to tell your Senators to VOTE NO ON H.R. 875, H.R. 3486 & H.R. 30!

H.R. 875 would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to make any immigrant who has been convicted of a DUI or driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs deportable and inadmissible into the United States. DUIs already have severe immigration consequences for many people, and this harmful bill vastly expands those consequences by adopting a blanket approach to an important public health concern. In short, this bill will destabilize families and communities.

H.R. 3486 would impose extreme prison sentences, including steep mandatory minimums, on asylum seekers, teenagers, and people trying to reunite with their families. It expands existing criminal penalties and creates new immigration offenses that will only fuel mass incarceration, including a new felony offense with a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment if a person who entered without inspection or authorization is subsequently convicted of a crime.

H.R. 30 would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) to expand the definition of domestic violence for inadmissibility and deportability purposes. It would put immigrant survivors of domestic and sexual violence at higher risk of deportation while undermining existing laws that protect survivors and doing nothing to alleviate the primary barriers to their safety and stability.
