Tell DHIC and CMC: tenants need a contract, not lip service!

Tenants at Willard Street and Ashton Place have had enough of lip service and empty promises. For years tenants at these properties have dealt with delayed and inadequate maintenance, insufficient security measures, disrespect and retaliation from management, among many more issues. Tenants are done waiting quietly for email responses and engaging in endless meetings and back-and-forths while nothing gets done.

This spring, a majority of tenants at these properties came together to form two tenant unions: Willard Street United and Ashton Seniors in Action. While their landlord (DHIC) and property management company (CMC) agreed to meet with them to discuss issues, it became clear immediately that these meetings were only going to amount to more lip service and empty promises. That is why these tenants are coming together to demand that DHIC and CMC commit to negotiating a collectively bargained lease with these tenant unions.

Send a letter to DHIC and CMC leadership now to tell them that Durham's seniors deserve respect and a seat at the table, not more lip service!
