Tell EGLE: Protect the Saline River. Strengthen the Saline Data Center Wastewater Permit.

A massive hyperscale AI data center is under construction in Saline Township. Now, EGLE is considering a proposed wastewater permit (an NPDES permit) that would allow an associated treatment plant to discharge about 15,750 gallons of treated sanitary wastewater per day into the Saline River.

EGLE's notice acknowledges that the proposed discharge would increase pollutant loading and lower water quality for certain parameters. At the same time, Michigan is facing a changing climate and increasing pressure on our water resources as large-scale data centers bring new demands for energy, water, land, and infrastructure.

Tell EGLE: Don't approve this permit as proposed. Require stronger protections for the Saline River and a clear demonstration that lowering water quality is necessary and justified.
