Tell FCPS: Stop the Weapons Detection Duties
FCPS teachers, counselors, and additional instructional staff in some schools are required to perform weapons detection duty. Requiring instructional staff to perform this duty raises concerns about job safety, appropriate workplace duties, and student services. Requiring instructional staff to manage weapons detectors also negatively impacts relationships with students.
It is now up to the School Board whether this duty will continue. The School Board needs to hear the message from you: Allow our instructional staff to focus on their own roles. End mandatory weapons detection duty for instructional staff.
