Tell Governor Spanberger to keep our campuses safe!
Send a letter to Governor Spanberger asking her to amend HB650/SB351 to ensure that public colleges and universities notify their students, faculty, and staff if federal immigration enforcement is present.
Every student, faculty, and staff member at Virginia’s institutions of higher education deserve to feel safe and secure, but unprecedented action from the Trump administration has allowed a culture of fear to spread throughout our campuses. To protect our communities, colleges and universities must notify students, faculty, and staff when federal immigration enforcement agents (like ICE, CBP, or DHS) step foot on our campus. The General Assembly recently passed legislation that would allow institutions of higher education to notify students, faculty and staff when federal immigration enforcement is present but it would not require that they do so.
We cannot allow personal or partisan bias to affect decisions about public safety — every college and university in Virginia should be required to notify students, faculty and staff when federal immigration officials are present.
