Hochul Reject the Williams Pipeline: It Threatens The Health of People and Marine Life
Background:
Williams/Tranco has submitted an application to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation asking the DEC to allow them to bury a new fracked gas pipeline for 23.33 miles under the seabed off New York City. Williams needs several permits, including a Water Quality Certificate, from the DEC before it would be allowed to proceed. Additionally, National Grid has proposed to include the Williams NESE pipeline into its long-term gas plan in a proceeding that is supposed to align all gas utilities in New York State with the state's landmark climate law.
Governor Hochul is in charge of the state agencies and they will be making a decision within the next 1-2 months.
