On Monday October 20th, KU Chancellor Doug Girod "was invited to provide feedback to federal officials on the Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education and related matters impacting universities". Chancellor Girod’s decision to engage with the White House’s right-wing agenda for higher education institutions and “Compact” is a violent betrayal to KU students, faculty, staff, and community at large. Rather than taking a firm and immediate stance in rejecting the Compact, Chancellor Girod has chosen to engage with an administration wielding increasing authoritarian power over our universities, jeopardizing KU's academic integrity, and KU's IRISE values. Many colleges and universities, public and private, have already rejected the compact. We are urging KU Leadership to stand with our academic community by doing the same.
