Tell Leadership: Restore Emergency Housing Funding

Oregon is cutting 80% of emergency rental assistance funding.
Legislative leadership can still restore this critical support before session ends.
The Oregon Legislature's proposed budget cuts funding from $173.2 million needed to continue services down to $33.6 million.
This means programs that prevented 27,713 households from losing their homes will serve only 4,331 households in the next two years.
Over 23,000 households lose protection from eviction when facing financial challenges such as job loss or medical bills.
Currently, 70% of people in eviction court receive assistance to keep their homes. With eviction cases at record highs, thousands of families will face the threat of homelessness if rent assistance and legal aid services are not funded.
Oregon has nearly $2 billion in 'rainy day' funds set aside for emergencies, and the legislature is planning to add hundreds of millions more to reserves this year.
