For almost two years, the US has unlawfully spent more than $30,000,000,000 of our tax dollars on weapons that Israel uses to commit acts of genocide including the mass murder and forced starvation of Palestinians in Gaza. In 2024 alone, the US spent $17.9 billion in military aid to Israel. However, polls show that Americans want their government to end these US-bankrolled atrocities: 92% of Democrats and 68% of Americans disapprove of Israel's military actions in Gaza (Gallup Poll, July 2025).

Sponsoring HR 3565 is not only moral, but also, financially sound. In 2024, Maryland ALONE spent $374,753,739 in federal tax dollars on military aid to Israel. That money could have funded so many things Marylanders are in dire need of: 788,540 famlies could have had a month of free groceries, 234,955 households could have had a month of free rent and 130,394 children could have been on Medicaid for a year! And yet, in negligence of our needs and in violation of our own Leahy Law, we continue to send bombs to Israel, making us as taxpayers complicit in genocide and gross violations of human rights.

1. SEND A LETTER to your Representative to co-sponsor the Block the Bombs Act (HR 3565). This historic bill, introduced in the House of Representatives, seeks to proactively block the Trump administration from delivering major weapons to Israel including bombs, tank rounds, and artillery shells, which it has used in its mass killing of Palestinians in Gaza. The only MD rep who has agreed so far to co-sponsor HR 3565 is Jamie Raskin. **If you are Raskin's district, please use this opportunity to thank him for co-sponsoring HR 3565!**
2. SEND A LETTER to Senators Chris Van Hollen and Alsobrooks to introduce a version of the Block the Bombs Act in the Senate. Both senators voted in support of recent Joint Resolutions of Disapproval introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders so why don't they take the next step to block weapons to Israel?

We cannot continue to allow our tax dollars to be used to fund genocide, and we cannot wait for our lawmakers to do what they should already be doing. We must take action, and the time to act is now!
