Tell McClatchy: We won’t cross the picket line in the PNW!

Support your local newsrooms by telling McClatchy Media that you won’t cross the digital picket line when we stop working.

93% of workers at five Pacific Northwest newspapers have voted to authorize a one-day strike against our New Jersey-based hedge fund owners. Those papers include the Idaho Statesman, Tacoma News Tribune, Tri-City Herald, Bellingham Herald and The Olympian.

McClatchy is engaging in bad faith bargaining, refusing to bring decision makers to the table or even identify them. We have filed an unfair labor practice charge against the company.

Workers have made modest demands that wages should keep up with inflation and the company must commit to ethical standards for artificial intelligence. To date, the company says it won’t even consider inflation and is spending wildly to acquire tabloid magazines and shady artificial intelligence that threatens our credibility and trust with our communities.

You can support your local journalists by telling McClatchy management that you will not cross the picket line. Do not share, click on or engage with any McClatchy stories or social media posts on May 26, 2026.

Our strike is meant to highlight how our labor creates all of the value McClatchy relies on to run its business. You can make a huge difference by sending McClatchy management a clear message that you stand with its workers, not the executives forcing AI and tacky celebrity news into your local paper.
