Tell Our Lawmakers: It's Time To Pass Gun Safety Reform

The tragic mass murder last month in Dayton was the latest reminder that the gun lobby has had its way for far too long and it's time for the rest of us to demand change.

Everyone deserves to feel safe in their homes and in their communities. Ohio leaders have signaled that they are finally willing to enact common-sense gun safety measures. Two proposals in the Ohio legislature would help keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of dangerous people.

We are calling on Ohio lawmakers to hold hearings and pass background checks (SB183 and HB317) and Extreme Risk Protection Orders (SB184 and HB316). Over 90 percent of Ohioans support background checks, which are proven to reduce violent crime and suicide. Extreme Risk Protection Orders (or "red flag" laws) can help keep firearms out of the hands of people who may pose a danger to themselves or others.

Now is our opportunity to take action. Please take a minute to send a letter to Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof and House Speaker Larry Householder urging them to hold hearings and votes on these two proposals.
