Tell Portland City Council to Protect Forest Park!
One year after the City Council voted unanimously to deny permits for Portland General Electric to clearcut in Forest Park to build new power lines for data centers, the fight to defend our beloved urban forest from corporate greed is back. Mayor Wilson’s Administration made a backroom deal with PGE to push the project through. PGE re-submitted their application, and the City is about to decide whether to grant a land use permit.
This current proposal would log 4.7 acres of intact biodiverse forest, but PGE has already planned future phases that will clearcut more of Forest Park and extend the lines to power data centers in Hillsboro. City Council will hold a public hearing and vote on whether to allow the project to move ahead sometime in mid to late December. Ahead of that they need to hear from you that Portlanders want to protect Forest Park from clear cutting and development -- especially to build power lines for corporate data centers!
