Tell Rhode Island State Legislators: Improve the state's Paid Family Leave program!
Please support Senate President Lawson (SB-2737) and Representative Giraldo (HB-7968) in advocating to improve Rhode Island's Paid Family Leave program, also known as Temporary Caregiver Insurance (TCI)!
These bills will:
- Increase the maximum benefit amount to 12 weeks (the current maximum is 8 weeks, far behind what other states provide)
- Allow grandchildren and chosen family to take caregiving leave
- Provide an opt-in option for self-employed workers and gig workers
Improving Paid Family Leave will help Rhode Island remain competitive regionally, since MA and CT have more comprehensive Paid Family Leave programs. Expanded and equitable TCI will allow small businesses to recruit and retain talented workers. And it will allow better access for low- and middle-income workers, who contribute the most into the program.
