Tell Salisbury Mayor Randy Taylor: STOP SAFARI AT THE QUARRY

Despite considerable opposition from the community, County Executive Julie Giordano has decided not to postpone the upcoming Safari on the Quarry events scheduled for this year. The County Council is currently developing legislation to prohibit similar future events, but it will not take effect in time to impact the current schedule. Consequently, the primary recourse now lies with Salisbury Mayor Randy Taylor. We urge you to join us in contacting Mayor Taylor to encourage him to pursue an injunction against these events due to ongoing zoning code violations and to help preserve Connelly Mill Park.

Here are the key facts to consider:

- The City Attorney has determined that the off-road events contravene the City's zoning ordinances and has requested that Live Wire Media LLC discontinue the events.

- County Attorney Paul Wilber has not provided any legal justifications supporting the continuation of these events.

- Despite warnings from city officials, the events proceeded.

- Immediate financial penalties against Live Wire Media Inc. for these zoning violations are warranted.

- The County Council is considering legislation that would require Council approval for motorized off-road events, though it is unlikely to halt the event scheduled for July.

- Live Wire could potentially organize multiple events before the expiration of their Memorandum of Understanding on September 1.

- We strongly advocate for Mayor Taylor to seek an injunction to prevent any further zoning code violations.

We encourage your support in this matter to ensure the preservation of our local environment and community well-being.
