Tell the Appropriations Committee to Support Recovery!

We need your help to urge the Appropriations Committee to fund LD 1714: An Act to Create a Sustainable Funding Source for Recovery Community Centers Using a Percentage of the Adult Use Cannabis Tax Revenue.

What does this bill do?

Introduced last session by Representative Ambureen Rana, this bipartisan bill aims to establish the Recovery Community Centers Fund within the DHHS Office of Behavioral Health to fund RCCs through 12% of the adult use cannabis tax revenue.

  • Based on Maine Adult Use Cannabis tax revenues from 2022, this bill could provide approximately $6 million dollars a year to the Recovery Community Centers Fund.

  • This bill does not take any funds from the Adult Use Cannabis Public Health and Safety and Municipal Opt-in Fund, which funds prevention efforts and law enforcement education. The bill creates a NEW set aside, which would be allocated to support Recovery Community Centers. The funding for the Recovery Community Centers Fund would be taken from the general fund.

Last session, advocates from across the state turned out at the public hearing in support of LD 1714, and it received unanimous support from the Taxation Committee. After passing both the House and the Senate, this bill was carried over to this session and now awaits funding from the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee. Learn more about LD 1714 here.
