Tell the DC State Board of Education your thoughts on the proposed graduation requirement changes
Last year, OSSE made proposals to change the high school graduation requirements. In April, the State Board of Education will vote on OSSE's proposal.
These proposed changes could lead to:- Less resources (including instructional positions) to schools, as they allow credit hour reductions, test-out options, and course substitutions
- Significant staff workload increase with capstone project implementation
- Greater disparities in outcomes for students across the district
- Confusion around special education diplomas, endorsement options, and capstone requirements
