Tell the Judiciary Committee: Pass HB 346
For more than 120 years, Louisiana was one of two states that allowed people to be convicted without the unanimous consent of a jury. Passing HB 346 is our chance to get rid of this stain on our state’s history, and to end non-unanimous juries once and for all.
HB 346 is our opportunity to solve this problem here in Louisiana, without relying on the federal government, a choice that will save taxpayer money and reduce the risk of backlogged cases. Most importantly, voting in favor of HB 346 will guarantee the more than 1,500 people who remain imprisoned as a result of Jim Crow jury convictions their day in court and not delay justice any longer.
