Tell the Massachusetts Legislature to take dirty biomass out of our clean energy programs!
SInce 2008, the citizens of Springfield have fought to keep a polluting wood-burning power plant out of their community. Two recent court decisions have once again revived the 15-year old permits for this “zombie” biomass power plant. Please join us in calling on the Massachusetts legislature to stop subsidizing biomass energy, for once and for all!
Bills filed by Senator Adam Gomez and Rep. Orlando Ramos would remove incentives in Massachusetts’ clean energy programs for biomass power plants and for commercial scale wood furnaces. Burning wood harms our climate, our environment, and our health, and is even more polluting than fossil fuels. There should be no place in our state’s clean energy programs for burning biomass.
Please help move both of these pieces of legislation forward to keep Massachusetts’ energy programs heading in the right direction for our climate and public health. You can learn more about these bills on the No Toxic Biomass campaign website.
We need the legislature to act quickly. Send a message to your state representatives today!
