Tell the New Hanover BOE: Put Kids over Corporations on May 1
After nearly two decades of of underfunding our schools and handing tax breaks over to the wealthy and corporations, our schools, staff, and students are struggling. The North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) has called for a day of action in Raleigh on Friday, May 1st, to declare that people across our state stand with kids over corporate greed. Many New Hanover educators are requesting a personal day to travel to Raleigh on May 1 to demand more funding for our students. While many school boards across the state are standing with students and educators by making May 1 an optional teacher work day, a majority of the New Hanover School Board is blocking educators from taking a day to advocate for our students.
Use this tool NOW to email the school board and Superintendent Barnes to let them know that you stand with educators, students, and families across the state, that you plan to go to Raleigh for the rally, and that you need them to convert Friday, May 1 to a work day so that everyone can do what we need to do for our kids and communities.
