Tell the Senate Now: Pass the Uyghur Policy Act
Tell the Senate to protect Uyghur human rights by passing the Uyghur Policy Act.
The Uyghur Policy Act:
Recognizes Uyghurs’ distinct religious and cultural identity
Affirms the U.S. government’s determination of China’s treatment of the Uyghurs as genocide and crimes against humanity
Directs the State Department to:
Coordinate U.S. policies and diplomacy to protect Uyghur human rights.
Collaborate with international partners, including Organisation of Islamic Cooperation members, to advocate for Uyghur human rights.
Advocate for the release of arbitrarily detained Uyghurs.
Develop a strategy to pressure China to close the so-called “reeducation” camps and allow independent investigation in the Uyghur Region.
Train diplomats in the Uyghur language and include Uyghur speakers at China posts.
Urge action at the UN, including appointing a special rapporteur on Uyghur human rights.
