Tell the Senate: Reject Bill Pulte for Director of National Intelligence Now

Donald Trump is trying to put Bill Pulte, a housing finance official with zero intelligence experience, in charge of the entire U.S. intelligence community.

The Director of National Intelligence oversees 18 agencies and organizations across the federal government, including the CIA, FBI, NSA, DEA, DHS, ICE, Treasury intelligence offices, and military intelligence across every branch of the armed forces. This office coordinates some of the most sensitive national security work in the country.

The role was created after the intelligence failures that failed to stop 9/11. Congress understood that the person leading America’s intelligence network needed deep national security experience. That requirement was written directly into law. Bill Pulte does not meet that standard. It’s not even close. He has no experience. Zero.

What Pulte does have is loyalty to Trump. As head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, he used his position to target Trump’s perceived political enemies with bogus mortgage fraud accusations, including Adam Schiff, Letitia James, and Lisa Cook. That record instantly disqualifies him from ever getting his hands on America’s intelligence agencies.

Putting Pulte in charge of national intelligence would hand Trump a political loyalist with access to the most sensitive intelligence systems in the country. This is how authoritarian power works. First, Trump installs loyalists. Then he uses the government to punish his enemies.

The Senate must stop this immediately. Senators must reject any nomination of Bill Pulte, oppose his acting appointment, and demand Trump put forward a qualified national security professional.
