Tell the Senate: Vote NO on the SAVE Act

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act is a bill that, if passed, would severely restrict voter access and make it more expensive to vote. The bill passed the House in 2025. The next step is the Senate.

Now we also have two more extreme versions – the SAVE America Act and MEGA Act – which could keep millions of eligible U.S. citizens from being able to vote and make it harder to vote by mail. Elections are currently run by members of our local communities and our states. With this bill, the federal government is attempting to seize that power.

These bills include in-person show-your-papers requirements that could exclude millions of eligible U.S. citizens from registering to vote. Many of us don't have passports or access to our birth certificates. For those of us who have changed our names - most commonly through marriage - our IDs won’t match our birth certificates. These bills also open the door to kicking people off the voter roll without any notice, limit access to vote by mail, impose criminal liability on election officials, and more.

It’s already illegal for noncitizens to register and vote in federal or state elections. We’re losing our right to vote thanks to fear mongering and political power grabbing.

Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote doesn’t safeguard elections, it silences voters. Tell the Senate to reject these dangerous bills and protect our voting rights!
