Disabled people's right to live in the community, also known as community integration, is under attack at the federal level. This right was incorporated into Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act by Congress, and it was upheld in 1999 by the U.S. Supreme Court in Olmstead v. Lois Curtis. Now, the United States Department of Justice, which is the primary enforcer of this right, is backing away.
