The IBEW is calling on all Indiana members to mobilize now to stop corrupt redistricting and reject gerrymandered maps. Demand fair maps that protect union voices and working families.

President Trump and Vice President Vance privately met with Indiana’s GOP leaders to pressure them into pushing mid-decade redistricting before the 2026 midterms. Their goal is clear: flip Democratic-held districts like the 1st (northwest Indiana) and the 7th (Indianapolis) by carving up union-dense communities and silencing pro-labor voices.

Hundreds of union members have rallied at the Indiana Statehouse to stop this power grab. Governor Mike Braun has not committed to calling a special legislative session, but GOP supermajorities in both chambers of the General Assembly could push redistricting through without a single Democratic vote.

Indiana law limits congressional map-drawing to the first session after the census, but Republicans can change this statute to redraw before 2026 and advance their agenda.

This isn’t about fair representation. This is part of a national GOP strategy. In states like Texas, Ohio, Florida, and Missouri, the GOP aims to flip enough U.S. House seats before the 2026 midterms to fast-track anti-worker, anti-union policies nationwide that they know are unpopular. That’s why they are trying to rig district maps.

Indiana's mid-decade redistricting will impact union members by:

  • Erasing workers’ voices, especially in union-dense communities like Northwest Indiana and Indianapolis

  • Protecting anti-union politicians who attack collective bargaining, project labor agreements, union dues deductions, and prevailing wage laws

  • Opening the door for more anti-worker laws like the Big Ugly Bill

  • Threatening union rights and jobs in Indiana and nationwide

📝 Union members must act now. Demand that your Indiana state representative:

  • Reject anti-worker redistricting

  • Put Hoosiers first, not the anti-union agenda of the Trump administration and GOP supermajorities

  • Protect union voices with fair maps that represent all working families
