The Trump administration is responding to the tragic attack on two National Guard troops near the White House by pursuing collective punishment against the most vulnerable in our communities to advance a racist and unconscionable anti-immigrant agenda.

Trump said he plans to expand his xenophobic travel ban to more than 30 countries, halt asylum applications, review green card holders from the 19 travel ban countries and suspend any pending applications for green cards, citizenship, or asylum for nationals of those countries, and stop visa processing for Afghan nationals.

Congress must stand against this hate-filled effort to scapegoat entire communities, including our Afghan and Somali neighbors — who have become the focus of some of these most recent attacks.
