Tell Your PA Senator: Pass the Digital Ad Tax on Big Tech Corporations
The digital ad tax on Big Tech corporations has passed the PA House - and now it's time for the PA Senate to act. Big Tech companies are exploiting our data, pushing data centers on our communities and driving up the costs of living. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania needs new revenue right now in order to avoid cuts driven by the federal budget bill. It's time for Big Tech to pay their fair share!
The digital ad tax would generate $500 million in new, recurring revenue, paid in full by the world’s wealthiest tech corporations like Google, Meta, Amazon and TikTok. The PA House passed HB 1678, sponsored by Reps Elizabeth Fiedler, Aerion Abney and John Ingliss. Senators Lindsey Williams, Nikil Saval and Katie Muth are the prime sponsors of SB 1199, the Senate companion bill.
The tax on Big Tech is a cornerstone of the Tax Billionaires, Fund PA package, which would raise nearly $6 billion in new revenue by closing corporate tax loopholes, taxing billionaires’ unearned income, and requiring Big Tech to pay taxes on the digital ads that profit off Pennsylvania consumers and their data.
Families across Pennsylvania are already making impossible choices to make rent, buy groceries, and pay utility bills. Programs like Medicaid, Pennie, and SNAP helped lighten the load, but now even those lifelines are under threat. Unless PA lawmakers generate new revenue, communities across the state will face the fallout.
Please support SB 1199 and pass the Digital Ad Tax on Big Tech!
