Recently, Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL) was given robust tax breaks to develop a chemical manufacturing site on the Northside. ICL has a history of manufacturing white phosphorus, a chemical weapon used against civilians in Gaza and Lebanon in violation of international law. This Northside development would have contaminated a neighborhood already facing the highest hospitalization rates from asthma in the city due to a legacy of environmental racism. ICL pulled their plans for this harmful project, but we do NOT want tax incentives to go to any unethical corporations committing environmental racism in the future. Tell your representatives we need concrete legislative action against environmental racism, and against tax incentives going to unethical war profiteers
