Tell your representatives that you support increased taxes on the wealthiest Vermonters

Congress and the President have taken our hard-earned tax dollars to give massive tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations. TODAY, the Vermont House Ways and Means committee is discussing legislation that would recapture a portion of those tax cuts to make needed investments in Vermont. Tell your representatives to show their commitment to a Vermont that works for everyone by letting their colleagues in the Ways and Means Committee know that they are supportive of increased taxes on the wealthiest Vermonters, and want the policy to pass out of the committee.

Due to the passage of H.R. 1 (One Big 'Beautiful' Bill Act), the top 1% of Vermont income-earners are set to receive an average federal tax cut of $57,000 per filer in 2026. Meanwhile, too many Vermonters are struggling to make ends meet and are worried about the future, and reduced federal funding for programs Vermonters rely on is putting additional pressure on Vermont families.

Today, the House Ways and Means Committee will be discussing legislation that would raise taxes on the top 1% of Vermont income-earners. To support this policy's passage through the committee, it's important to let your elected leaders know that you support increased taxes on the wealthiest Vermonters.

More state revenue means more resources to respond to federal funding cuts and to invest in our communities–to fix our roads and bridges, support Vermont families, increase access to healthcare and housing, protect our environment, and more–helping to make a Vermont that’s affordable for everyone, not just the wealthy few.
