The Compassionate Use Program should be made more inclusive by adding to the list of qualifying conditions the condition of PTSD and intractable pain. 22+ veterans commit suicide a day from pain and PTSD, and that does not factor in Texas which does not report those numbers.

Nearly 70% of Americans have legal access to medical cannabis, including those in every state surrounding Texas. These laws are improving the quality of life for countless patients and their family members because medical cannabis often offers relief more safely and effectively than prescription drugs -- and without the harmful side effects.

Unfortunately, the Texas Compassionate Use Program is unreasonably restrictive, allowing only those with intractable epilepsy access to low-THC cannabis. The program is being addressed right now in the Senate and HB3703 has received a committee substitute by Senator Donna Campbell that she claims was helped to be crafted by Lt Gov. Dan Patrick according to Senator Donna Campbell. Senator Campbell has expressed that she would like for PTSD to be on the list and has fought for it, but believes there may not be enough support in the Senate to change that.
