Allow Music Workers Access to Small Business Grants!

Thanks to everyone who wrote to their state reps, we have been added in the budget proposal! The State Senate's budget included a line to make "independent arts contractors" eligible for small business grants. In order for this to become a reality and stay in the final budget, we need everyone to join us again in contacting their elected officials today!

Touring musicians were repeatedly left out of relief efforts over the past two years. When PUA dried up, many were forced to go back on the road into uncertain working conditions. These tours were riddled with cancellations forcing music workers to pick up the costs, not only of lost wages, but of travel, lodging and the day to day expenses of touring. MWA's lost wages survey has shown over $1.2M in lost wages and over $80K in unrecoupable costs associated with touring during the pandemic, this was from just 41 respondents!

Use this form to write your letter to your State Senator and Assembly members and the Governor's office, and tell them to keep independent arts contractor language in the final budget!
