Thank Councilmembers Ortiz, Kamei, Candelas, & Campos!
At the March 24th San Jose City Council meeting, dozens of San Jose community members gave public comment demanding that the San Jose City Council divest from genocide & ICE. The city currently has over $115 million invested in corporations that work with Israel and ICE.
Councilmembers Ortiz and Kamei put forward a memorandum that would ban future investments in Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet, an important first step in the struggle for ethical investment.
In the final vote, four councilmembers voted yes on this memorandum:
Peter Ortiz (District 5), Rosemary Kamei (District 1), Domingo Candelas (District 8), and Pamela Campos (District 2).
