Sixteen Virginia legislators have signed on as Ratepayer Champions, committing to oppose NextEra's $67 billion takeover of Dominion Energy and protect their constituents from higher bills and data center costs. In Florida, NextEra's utility delivered the largest rate hike in U.S. history and now disconnects power to roughly one in five customers a year, the second-highest rate in the country.

Champions so far: Dels. Jessica Anderson, Katrina Callsen, Kacey Carnegie, Mark Downey, Lily Franklin, Marty Martinez, John McAuliff, Leslie Mehta, May Nivar, Sam Rasoul, and Charlie Schmidt, and Sens. Elizabeth Bennett-Parker, Stella Pekarsky, Russet Perry, Danica Roem, and Schuyler VanValkenburg.
