Twelve Virginia legislators have signed on as Ratepayer Champions, committing to oppose NextEra's $67 billion takeover of Dominion Energy and protect their constituents from higher bills and data center costs. In Florida, NextEra's utility delivered the largest rate hike in U.S. history and now disconnects power to roughly one in five customers a year, the second-highest rate in the country.

Champions so far: Dels. Marty Martinez, John McAuliff, Sam Rasoul, Katrina Callsen, May Nivar, Leslie Mehta, Charlie Schmidt, and Kacey Carnegie, and Sens. Schuyler VanValkenburg, Danica Roem, Russet Perry, and Stella Pekarsky.
