The Canadian Government Must Reunite Gazan Families
Canada promised to help and has done nothing. Over 7,500 Palestinian Canadian families applied through the Special Immigration Measures for Gaza to evacuate their loved ones from a war zone, and over 300 Palestinian Canadians have died waiting. Not a single person has been evacuated.
While other countries have taken action like evacuating students, patients, and families, Canada’s program is filled with impossible requirements, no pathway out of Gaza, and zero urgency. Meanwhile, children, students, and cancer patients with family in Canada are dying as they wait.
This failure isn’t accidental. It reflects a racist double standard. Canada welcomed over 600,000 European Ukrainians by waiving biometrics and medical exams. For Palestinians, the government throws up barriers, quotas, and silence. This is not just a policy failure. It’s a moral one. That’s why Palestinian families across the country are leading a national sit-in on Wednesday, July 23, demanding real action. We’re joining them.
Add your voice now and join us on Wednesday. Tell Immigration Minister Lena Diab: Evacuate Palestinian families. End the delays. End the discrimination.
