The Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, Arieh King is scheduled to be in Toronto and Montreal this week.

The Israel Land Fund indicates that he will be in Toronto on August 25 and 26, and in Montreal from August 26 to 30, with visits in the USA bookending his Canadian visit. These visits are to fundraise for the Israel Land Fund.

His proposed appearance warrants immediate examination by the Government of Canada.

King is the founder of the Israel Land Fund, an organization that works to acquire Palestinian property in East Jerusalem and elsewhere for Jewish ownership, displacing Palestinian residents from neighbourhoods like Sheikh Jarrah.

King also led the campaign to expel UNRWA from East Jerusalem. In fact, this “seems to be his brainchild", according to The New Arab. In January 2026 the “Jerusalem deputy mayor Aryeh King called for the killing of UNRWA staff members and referred to UNRWA as a ‘Nazi'” organization, saying “he didn’t care” what the UN had to say about international law.

King has a documented pattern of inflammatory and dehumanizing public statements. In December 2023, King called for Israeli forces to "pick up the pace" in Gaza. He also described captured individuals as "subhuman" and invoked a biblical reference to Amalek calling to "eradicate" their memory.

In November 2022, King attended a public commemoration event for Meir Kahane — founder of the Kach Party, which is a designated terrorist entity in Canada.

One event that is publicized for his visit in Toronto is being hosted by Israel Now, an organization led by Meir Weinstein. Weinstein was the voice of the Canadian Jewish Defence League (JDL), an organization that despite indication it no longer exists, still has an active Ontario business not for profit registration. The JDL was founded by Meir Kahane. The JDL has been described by the FBI as a “right wing terrorist group.”

More recently, Weinstein indicated he had been part of forming a new group, the Jewish Defence Forces (JDF). Weinstein has described himself as a follower of Kahane.

Call on the Canadian government to ban King’s entry to Canada, and to investigate to add him and the Israel Land Fund to the Canadian sanctions list.
