The UN just updated their database of companies complicit in Israel's illegal settlement, and there are TOO many Canadian connections!
The UN has provided an updated list of businesses associated with illegal Israeli settlements (aka War Crimes)
On Friday, September 25, 2026, the UN Human Rights Office issued an updated report on the database of businesses involved in activities in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory. This resulted in a total of 214 companies from 11 countries now being listed.
This effort originated when on 24 March 2016, the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) adopted resolution 31/36, entitled “Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in the occupied Syrian Golan”.
While mandated by the UNHRC in 2016, the database was only first issued in 2020. Then it was updated in 2023 (only to remove entities!) and 2025 (to add entities for the first time since its original publication in 2020!).
The list was to be updated annually, but the September 25, 2026 update is the first time that has occurred. It also seems to be the first time that clear connections with companies primarily located in the occupied Syrian Golan are included in the list.
The latest update, according to the UN, focuses on businesses engaged in the agriculture, transport, storage, waste management, energy, food and hospitality providers sectors.
A public call for input in 2024 resulted in 596 submissions. Just Peace Advocates working with other organizations and volunteers put in hundreds of submissions during 2024, both in the June call and the November call.
The UN indicates that during 2024 and 2025, 381 of these were reviewed. Of the 126 enterprises screened in 2026, 61 were added to the list. The remainder are to be reviewed in the future.

Walk the Talk Carney!
On September 8, 2026, the Canadian Government ‘announced’ they are considering restrictions on settlement goods. Shortly after, Prime Minister Mark Carney, along with France and the UK stated they will “take steps to ban the importation of goods from settlements and enforce targeted measures against settlements and those who facilitate them or profit from them.” This is only useful if Canada immediately takes action, including placing sanctions on entities listed by the United Nations as complicit in illegal occupation (aka war crimes).
This includes taking specific action to stop imports and financial transactions with these Israel based entities on the UN list. While we have not done a full analysis there a number of connections directly with Canada that we point out.
- There are at least 10 wineries on the UN list (this is the first time wineries have been included). These include wineries such as Teperberg and Carmel which import to Canada. These are sold by provincial regulators in Canada (e.g. LCBO, SAQ, and other provincial liquor boards), and are imported by Canadian agents. See full report by Just Peace Advocates “How Canada Supports the ‘Israeli’ Alcohol Industry Which Is Embedded in Occupation and Apartheid”.
- Produce companies including those exporting medjoul dates to Canada such as Hadiklaim which has been imported by NBF over the years, including in 2026. See full report by Just Peace Advocates Stop Importation and Sale of Medjoul Dates and Other Produce Complicit in War Crimes
- Dead sea products including salt, specifically Ahava which sells at retailers across Canada
- Adama Agricultural Solutions Ltd. and Adama Ltd. Adama is on the Canadian 2024 import list. There is also Canadian branch.
- Tnuva Central Co-operative for the Marketing of Agricultural Produce in Israel Ltd. which sells products in retailers in Canada such as Walmart and Loblaws.
- Rustic Bakery Israel with products brands Nature Valley, Pillsbury, Haagen-Daas, Fiber One. While these brands are sold by General Mills and Nestle in Canada, in Israel, these brands are all licensed to Rustic Bakery.
- Tera Light Ltd. Outside of Israel, Tera Light operates in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. In addition, it collaborates with Canadian Solar, a publicly traded Canadian renewable energy company with dozens of solar projects all over the world.
- Netafim which sells products in Canada.
- E.L.A.D.- to the City of David. We ask the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to specifically ensure no funds are going from Canadian charities such as Mizrachi Organization of Canada which has provided funds including in its most recent filing in 2024; also Corporations Canada must ensure other funds or support are not going through a not-for-profit or other avenues.
- Investments by Canadian public pensions, banks and other financial institutions in companies that are on the UN list including Israeli banks. For a full analysis see Just Peace Advocates’ report Divesting from Israeli Occupation, Apartheid, and Genocide. Also we point out specifically the CPP (see Just Peace Advocates’ report CPPIB Doubles Down, Increases Investments in Genocide, War Crimes, and Apartheid to More Than $54 Billion) and the CDPQ (see CDPQ 2024 Report Analysis: $27.4 billion invested in 76 companies)
- Canadian universities also reported investments in Bank Leumi le Israel and Bank Hapoalim. See details in Just Peace Advocates’ report How Canadian Universities Support Israel’s Crimes Through Investments, Partnerships, Donor Funds, and Anti-Palestinian Racism.
We also ask Canada to review in detail its imports from Israel to find direct connections to the companies on the UN list, but also others that are directly in illegally occupied Palestine like Brosh Carpet Yarns Ltd. which is located in the Barkan Industrial Park.
On the list, but in countries other than Israel
We also ask the Canadian government to take steps related to companies listed by the UN for complicity in illegal occupation, that are not located in Israel but that direct involvement in Canada.
- Motorola Solutions which has a subsidiary in Vancouver-- Aviglion. Also, the Canadian government has contracts with Motorola.
- Heidelberg Materials AG which operates under Heidelberg Materials in North America.
- Egis/Egis Rail which have Canada specific operations.
- J.C. Bamford Excavators Ltd. which sells JCB equipment across Canada.
- Re/max Holdings Inc. which through its Canadian operations has locations across Canada.
- Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles S.A. (CAF) which has contract for public transit in Calgary.
- Travel companies including Airbnb, Booking.com, Expedia Group and Trip Advisor which operate in Canada.
We ask that Canada review all the companies on the UN list that are in countries outside of Israel, and consider any financial transactions, be these be imports or exports, investments, subsidiaries or other relationships, and take immediate steps to warn these businesses of their complicity with war crimes. We also ask that the Canadian government hold Canadian corporations who do not end their business relationships with listed entitites accountable.
Charities
With ELAD/Ir David/City of David now being included on the UN list, along with Friends of Ir David in the US, the UN has moved to include not-for-profits. In this regard, Canada needs to review in detail all the charities, as well as not-for-profits (which are not registered charities including those which have been revoked charitable status but still operate as not-for-profits) for any contributions to illegal settlements. More information is available here.
Military and Arms
The UN list does not include military specific companies thus companies such as Elbit Systems or Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), however any company supporting Israel’s illegal occupation should be sanctioned.
Legal Context
International law is clear and the Canadian government has recognized it time and again: Israeli settlements are illegal. What Canada avoids saying is that they are also illegal under Canadian law through the Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act and Geneva Conventions Act. Therefore, Canada is not only responsible for its complicity under international law, but also under Canadian law itself.
Further, Canada has an obligation to ensure that violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention do not occur under any circumstance. When Canada or other signatories fail to do so, they themselves are complicit with war crimes. They also have a responsibility to not only punish but prevent genocide.
Canada must stop its lip service and start taking real action that truly puts an end to Canadian assistance and aid for Israel’s illegal occupation, apartheid regime, and ongoing genocide.
Now with an updated UN list, and details provided regarding the nexus relations with Canadian entities including government regulators, sales of alcohol by provincial agencies, charities being tax subsidized by Canadians, investments by Canadian banks, pensions and universities, imports, subsidiaries operating in Canada and other financial involvement, Canada needs to act quickly to “walk its talk.”
