Sadly, we have had another pedestrian tragedy in San Mateo. A truck driver hit and seriously injured a father and two children in North Central. They were walking across N. Delaware at State in a crosswalk, next to San Mateo High School. The father is in critical condition and requires multiple surgeries. The 8-year-old boy suffered fractures on both sides of his skull.

Pedestrians are not safe on the streets of San Mateo. Drivers have killed multiple pedestrians in recent years, including single mother Yolanda Villar only a block from this location. Nevertheless, the City isn't doing enough to make our streets safer. There have been at least three other crashes at this intersection, including a teen who was hit in 2023. We have notified the City of this dangerous condition, but no changes have occurred here.

Please take a minute to email the San Mateo City Council, demanding that they fix this intersection immediately, before someone else is killed.
