To Maine's Next Governor and Legislature: No AI Data Centers for ME!
Energy-hungry AI data centers could badly inflate Maine's already-high electricity costs. From the mid-Atlantic states to Tennessee and Illinois, U.S., data centers have caused electricity customers to pay $9.3 billion more last year alone. AI data centers also imperil our climate progress, use huge amounts of water, and speed up AI-related job losses.
Early this year, Governor Mills vetoed what could have been the first data center ban in the nation. Let's make sure our NEXT Governor and Legislature hears, loud and clear: protect Maine people and the Way Life Should Be!
