The Burkle Center of International Relations at UCLA has invited Bari Weiss to its esteemed lecture series to talk about the future of journalism. This is shameful, especially because Weiss has recently aligned herself with the Trump administration by attempting to cover up the fact that ICE agents are sending Venezuelan migrants to a torture center in El Salvador. She has a history of flagrant xenophobic remarks about Palestinians, Muslims, and Arabs, and prides herself on her extreme views. Weiss has created a career writing opinions that hold no journalistic integrity, which do not reflect the values of the Daniel Pearl Lecture Series at the Burkle Center.

Ever since Weiss was hired as editor-in-chief at CBS, the evening news program has lost nearly a quarter of its viewership. It's obvious Weiss is unpopular with the American people because of her deeply biased and opportunistic reporting, and our academic institutions must stop platforming someone who is a mouthpiece for the White House.
