University Presidents, Stand Up for Kentucky Students.

Dear Kentucky students, campus workers, and community supporters,

This legislative session, we have worked tirelessly to halt, pause, and amend bills with detrimental potential effects on higher education.

Each of our public university campuses hosted a Day of DEI on Friday, February 28th, which garnered over 1,000 attendees across the Commonwealth. We’ve made numerous trips to Frankfort to testify against these bills and meet with elected representatives to discuss their effects on higher education. We worked closely with Senator Neal to introduce amendments that would eliminate loopholes, vague wording, and reduce adverse chilling effects, but lawmakers rejected each one.

You’ve spoken, but they have not listened. Who do they listen to? University Presidents.

University Presidents have sat by and watched while Republicans in Frankfort erode tenure and the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is time to call out University Presidents!

Contact Kentucky’s public university presidents now to demand that they contact Representatives Tipton and Decker and request the withdrawals of HB4 and HB424, respectively, and that they issue strong, public statements condemning both bills and potential impacts on higher education.

The legislative session is not yet over! Governor Beshear can veto both bills, and lawmakers can choose to not override those vetoes.
