Urge CA State Legislators to Fund Critical 211 Community Resources

211 is a free information and referral service, federally designated for use in connecting people to vetted community services and trusted information. Our communities urgently need continued access to 211 to find the help they need, and the 211 service urgently needs state support to meet Californians’ ongoing, emerging, and disaster-related needs.

In 2025, 211s answered 1.8 million calls and texts to support a variety of needs, including:

  • housing (800K+);
  • individual, family, & community support (230K+); and
  • food and meals (225K+).

Despite an increasing reliance on the services 211s provide as trusted messengers, including during recent natural disasters and the government shutdown, the state of California does not provide financial support for their 211 providers to ensure a consistent statewide 211 system. Additionally, 15 rural counties representing over 722,000 Californians have limited or no 211 service.

HELP US TAKE ACTION!

Please join us in urging our state Assemblymembers and Senators to support AB 1832 (Ransom) and the associated bipartisan Budget Request for $20 million one-time, so this critical resource is available to ALL California communities!
