Dear Representative, As your constituent, I am writing to urge you to support swift House passage of the bipartisan Older Americans Act (OAA) Reauthorization Act and ensure this critical legislation reaches the President's desk this year. On July 14, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed S. 2120, the bipartisan reauthorization of the Older Americans Act. For more than 60 years, the Older Americans Act has helped older adults remain healthy, independent, and connected to their communities. Through a nationwide network of community-based organizations, OAA funding supports nutrition services, including home delivered meals, senior centers, transportation, caregiver assistance, falls prevention programs, employment services for low-income older adults, and protections against elder abuse. In San Diego County, these services are making a real difference every day. Older Americans Act funding helps support Serving Seniors' nutrition program, which provides approximately 1.5 million meals to low-income seniors annually. Older Americans Act programs help older adults remain safely in their homes and communities, reducing costly institutional care and supporting better health outcomes. The Senate demonstrated that support for older Americans remains a bipartisan priority. I urge you to follow your colleagues in the Senate and pass the final bipartisan, bicameral negotiated version of the Older Americans Act Reauthorization Act of 2024 that was reintroduced in 2025 (S.2120).
