Urge Congress to Restore Funding for Emergency Food and Shelter Program

In 1983, the signing of the “Jobs Stimulus Bill” established the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) to supplement and expand the ongoing work of local nonprofits and governmental social service organizations to provide shelter, food, and supportive services to those experiencing (or at risk of experiencing) hunger and homelessness.
Since its inception, EFSP has helped over 2,500 communities across the country avoid hunger and homelessness.
As of February of 2025, we have received notification that funding for EFSP has been placed on an indefinite pause, leaving local nonprofits and governmental social service organizations without the support they need to provide critical services—like food, lodging, rental and mortgage assistance, utility payment assistance, and more—for those experiencing or at risk of experiencing hunger and homelessness.
Join us in urging members of Congress to RESTORE funding for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program for our community members in need.
