Across the country, over 5 million people have lost their SNAP since the enactment of H.R.1 last July. As the cost of living continues to rise, programs like SNAP providing critical protection against hunger are needed more than ever. Without SNAP, families are left skipping meals, and choosing between paying their bills or buying groceries. And, without a delay to the upcoming cost shifts to states, even more children, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, and families will lose access to this essential support. States may be faced with hundreds of millions more to account for in their state budgets, threatening not only the stability and reach of SNAP, but also other state priorities like health care, education, child care, and housing. Urge legislators to utilize any legislative vehicle possible to reverse harmful cuts to SNAP, including Farm Bill or appropriations legislation.
