Urge the Hamilton County Commission to make Evening Meetings Permanent
The Hamilton County Commission is doing a "trial run" of 4pm meetings for the months of November and December. While this is a significant change in accessibility from their current 9:30 AM meeting times the trial meeting time still during working hours for many individuals. What can we do?
1. Sign up to attend the 4pm meetings if your able. County staff will be counting the number of individuals from the public in the audience at the 4pm meetings in November and December to determine if this trial run is successful. If there isn't an increase in public participation at 4pm, they will go back to 9:30am meeting times.
2. Send an email here, urging the commissioners to permanently change their meetings to a more accessible evening time.
Why is this important?
Many working citizens are unable to attend county commission meetings held during standard
business hours (8AM-5PM) , leaving their voices unheard on critical local issues.
If you believe in accessible and inclusive government, please consider sending an email to the county commissioners and urging them to permanently schedule meetings after 5:00PM.
Evening meetings would allow more residents—especially those with full-time jobs or family obligations—to participate in the democratic process, stay informed, and contribute to decisions that shape our communities.
Your input matters, and a simple message to your commissioners could help make local
government more responsive and representative.
