Urge Your Legislators and Governor Polis to Stand with Trans Youth & Support the Kelly Loving Act
Tell Colorado to stand with the transgender community!
Colorado has taken meaningful steps to promote the safety, dignity, and inclusion of LGBTQ+ communities. Yet the LGBTQ+ community continues facing rising violence, discrimination, and barriers to safety and dignity.
The Kelly Loving Act strengthens protections for transgender and LGBTQ+ individuals in Colorado across multiple areas. It:
- Requires that any school policies on chosen names be inclusive of all reasons a student might use a name different from their legal name.
- Mandates that school dress codes allow students to choose any dress code options available, regardless of gender.
- Recognizes deadnaming, misgendering, and threats to expose gender-affirming care as forms of coercive control in child custody and parental responsibility cases.
The Kelly Loving Act passed the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 30th, and is now headed to the Senate floor for a full vote. Please contact your Colorado legislators & Governor Polis and urge them to support the Kelly Loving Act to help ensure a safer, more just Colorado for all.
