Urge your members of Congress to fund Columbia Basin salmon recovery in 2027!
In the final Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) appropriations bills, our Northwest Congressional Delegation successfully maintained and increased funding levels for key salmon programs, even in the face of significant attacks on these programs by the current administration. As a result, these key federal programs will continue to support the restoration of salmon, steelhead, and native fish in the Columbia River Basin in 2026.
Salmon and steelhead are integral to the environment, economy, and culture of the Northwest – supporting many Tribal communities, 140+ species of animals, countless ecosystems throughout the region, and robust commercial and sportfishing industries. Investments in salmon recovery and habitat restoration are investments in our communities.
The process for determining federal funding for fiscal year 2027 (FY27) is now underway – and the Six Sovereigns (The States of Oregon and Washington, and the four lower Columbia River Treaty Tribes) have finalized their recommendations for the FY27 budget year. As in previous years, the recommendations focus on funding habitat protection and restoration, water quality, and upgrades to hatcheries and other actions that help salmon in the near term.
Please join us in urging members of Congress to strongly support the Six Sovereigns’ FY27 appropriation requests to recover salmon and invest in our communities – moving everyone forward together!
