On Tuesday April 21, the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors will hear a proposed ordinance that will scrap the county's existing medical cannabis cultivation ordinance, and instead limit all cannabis cultivation to the six plants per parcel required allowance for personal cultivation in Prop. 64 (AUMA). It will also allow the county to require registration for these six-plant gardens and impose fines of $1000/plant/day or more (after a 96-hour abatement period). See agenda item.

The current ordinance was years in the making, and allows for 200 square feet of cannabis cultivation per patient, limiting the number of patients by parcel size.

Six plants per parcel is inadequate for many medical patients living in El Dorado county who are peacefully growing their own medicine. There is no need to rush this ordinance through at a time when citizens can not physically attend meetings.
