The William E. Hay Youth Detention Centre in Ottawa has been the site of serious and systemic human rights abuses against young people. Over 1,000 documented incidents since 2019 reveal a disturbing pattern of violence, neglect, and misconduct. These youth, many of whom are already marginalized, deserve care and support, not further trauma.
