Urgent & Specific: Tell Murray and Cantwell not to support Censorship of BDS against Israel
The Seattle Anti-War Coalition supports its members taking action to end Israel's terrible genocide in Gaza, brutal settler colonialism in the West Bank, and decades of US-backed eradication of Palestinian rights through killing, maiming, imprisonment, trauma, and apartheid.
Recently, the US House of Representatives passed their version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) with a provision that would prohibit Pentagon contracts with any organization that engages in boycotts of Israel. This is an attempt at federal censorship of the Boycott, Divest, and Sanction movement has attempted for many years to force Israel to end its oppression of Palestinians through economic means. The Senate will vote on its version of the NDAA very soon, which does not include the anti-boycott provision.
On Monday afternoon, September 29, a group of local residents will meet with Senators Murray and Cantwell or their staff to demand that the final version of the NDAA, after the House and Senate bills are reconciled, not include the anti-boycott provision. In solidarity with the efforts of our fellow-activists in their meeting with the senators or their staff on September 29, let's flood the senators' email with letters demanding they vote against the bill.
You will be able to add any other comments you want to make on the letter that appears in the next step. Once you enter your address to the right, your letter will go to Senators Murray and Cantwell and also to your Congressional representative, so that they hear your message as well.
