The VA has no shortage of data—but it lacks the internal understanding to use it well. Miscommunication between technical teams and business offices leads to broken reports, wrong decisions, and wasted reforms.

The VA Data Competency and Collaboration Act ensures that VA employees have the training and teamwork structures they need to turn data into something veterans can actually benefit from.

This bill would:

• Require mandatory data literacy training for business/program staff

• Promote cross-functional collaboration between business and technical teams

• Hold leaders accountable for validating data before using it in reforms
